How do I connect the tech to my Smart TV?

Activating a device in your property and connecting your ExperiHaus dongle.

There are two methods available for activating new devices. You can either choose the specific property and add the device directly from there, or you can activate the property from the main dashboard. Below, you will find detailed instructions for each method.

In both methods, the final result is an activation code that you will enter on your Smart TV after you connect your dongle.

Selecting the Property first:

  1. Login to your ExperiHaus host dashboard.
  2. Click "My Properties" to access the list of your connected properties. If you need to add a new property, refer to this article.
  3. Find the property where you would like to activate the device and click the dark blue "Devices" button.
  4. On the right side of the page you will see "Add Device".
  5. Click "Add Device."
  6. The next page will have form fields for you to complete.
    1. Name - This can be something like the address of the property and the room where you are installing the device. For example, "28 West Walnut Lane - Living Room"
    2. Description - This can be very simple..."Smart T," "Living Room TV," etc.
    3. Brand - The brand of the Smart TV where you are installing the dongle.
    4. IP Address - This can be detected using Fing. See instructions for using Fing here.
    5. Model - This is found in the Smart TV settings menu or can be detected using Fing. See instructions for using Fing here
    6. Mac ID - This is found in the Smart TV settings menu or can be detected using Fing. See instructions for using Fing here
Typically two Mac ID addresses are shown--one for a wired and another for a wireless connection. Enter the Mac ID address that reflects the way that Smart TV is connected to the internet.
  7. Select which property to install the device into. The property should be preselected.
  8. Device is set up on your local router. Toggle to "Yes"
  9. In the drop-down menu, select the room where you are installing the device. This will enable permission for the device to be turned on automatically. A living room TV will be turned on automatically via the Mac ID address, whereas the other locations will not.
  10. Click Submit.

  12. Enter the authorization code into the field on the Smart TV.
